Family Vacation 2011 - Vallecito Lake

So we got to take a family vacation this year and it was just amazing!  We shared so many great moments and memories!  We rented a cabin at Vallecito Lake for a whole week.  We rented a slip for the boat but had boat problems, so instead of letting that ruin our week we just took the boat back to Farmington and enjoyed our time with the family.  I went a little over board and made lots of spreadsheets showing our menu and food supplies. Everyone got a good laugh at me but man it was so helpful!  We didn't have any plans other than to relax and have a good time.

Day 1
We got everyone settled and unpacked.  Enjoyed dinner and then Kim, Alexander, Tristan and Chuck saw a bear on the porch right outside the kitchen window! Got everyone excited for the week to come.

Day 2
Chuck and I took the boat back to Farmington which took a good chunk of the day.  Everyone else just relaxed and played board games and watched TV. That night we had a raccoon on the trash bin which Jenn said was hugh! lol

Day 3
Another day of card games and lots of laughs.  We took the boys to the lake and Greyson loved playing in the water! He is gonna be a daredevil which scares me to death! This night the bear came back at about 1:30 am.  He was so loud! He tore up the trash bin on the porch.  He was right outside Jenn's bedroom so she was a little shook up, lol!

Day 4
More lake time fun.  Playing in the water and hanging out.  We were excited to be able to watch the fireworks right from our front porch! The fireworks at Vallecito Lake are amazing! 28 minutes long! This was also Alexander's birthday!  We celebrated after the fireworks with a goofy looking cake that I made, ( did not get my mothers decorating skills!)  I have a hard time believing he is 17! Where has time gone! The bear did not come by this night but the raccoon stopped in for a visit but Alexander was the only one who got to see him that time.

Day 5
Dad, mom and Jenn all went back to Farmington to work so the rest of us went into Durango to kill some time. Durango was crazy busy but it was fun to get out.  Lazy afternoon with breezes blowing thru the house makes for perfect napping weather. The bear visited again this night and I finally got to see him.  He was trying to get back into the trash bin and did not want to leave when Chuck was trying to shooo him away.

Day 6
Tristan caught the one and only fish of the week and boy was it a big one.  It was a beautiful and tasty Trout!  We went to a cute antique shop in Bayfield this day.  We found so much cute stuff that makes me want to go antique shopping more often!  We had fun playing rummy many of the afternoons although I don't think anyone ever won!  We decided to take the trash to the office dumpster so there was no bear visits that night.

Day 7
Kim found a great little dirt road that led to a perfect little stream that we played in that afternoon.  I think that was my favorite.  The water was clear and we splashed and had great fun. We dropped Tristan off in Hesperas with his best friend and he spent the weekend at a Christian Concert and had a wonderful time! The boy has had a busy summer to say the least!

Day 8
We had to get packed up and out of there by 10am... we were out by 9, lol.  Not that we were ready to leave but we knew it had to come to an end.  It was so special to spend that time with my family.  Something we all needed and something we will never forget.  I do think Greyson had the most fun out of everyone though.  It was hard to keep the kid inside! Between the walks up the hill, sticks, rocks and water he was a happy boy!  I am so thankful for my family and the time we got to spend together.  I love you all so much and can't wait for our next vacation.
